Transpacific air cargo rates rose in October
Rate movement in October
TAC Index figures reported by Air Cargo News show average rates on Hong Kong-origin transpacific services climbing from $7.16 per kilogram at the beginning of October to $8.17 at the end of the month. That end-of-month level was 38.7% higher than a year earlier.
The Hong Kong-to-North America monthly average was $7.64 per kilogram, compared with $7.02 in September.
Reading the figures
The reported averages combine spot and contract rates and describe historical pricing rather than current quotes. They should not be treated as a price guaranteed for any individual shipment.
Shippers budgeting transpacific airfreight may find it useful to confirm rates for their specific lanes and volumes rather than relying on published averages.
